Our Male Cancer Awareness Roadshows have been taking place in local targeted communities, since 2010, from Aberdeen to Plymouth, Barrow-in-Furness to Hastings and Cardiff to Hull. Our roadshows are delivered by Orchid’s Community Engagement Team who are on hand to answer any questions for both men regarding their own concerns and for women, who can often play an important role in the health of the men in their lives.
We provide a plethora of information booklets at the Roadshow sites, the most popular being our discreet credit card sized guides to testicular, prostate and penile cancer.
We also use our interactive demonstration models to show younger men how to check for signs of testicular cancer, and older men the stages of prostate cancer and what a health professional would be looking for in a prostate examination.
Our Roadshow programme was paused due to COVID-19 and associated restrictions, but September 2021 saw a return to the community with the delivery of Roadshows in Bury, Croydon, Liverpool and Preston. We will continue to monitor the external environment and will ensure that all Roadshows are run in a COVID-19 safe way, and in line with any guidelines at the time of delivery. Roadshows will be delivered as and when full funding has been received.
