In March 2021, Orchid was delighted to have been awarded a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver a three-year project to help overcome the barriers to engaging with prostate cancer. This project launched on 4 May 2021 and will run until 3 May 2024.
Working in targeted locations, the focus of the project will be to support individuals from identified communities to overcome barriers to engaging with prostate cancer, including those additional barriers resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.
Overcoming the Barriers to Engaging with Prostate Cancer will be delivered in Birmingham, Bradford, Bristol, Dudley, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Wolverhampton where Orchid will recruit and train Volunteer Community Champions to help cascade prostate cancer messages to those at high risk of this cancer.
If you work and/or live in one of these areas and are interested in becoming a Volunteer Community Champion for this project, please contact Julia De Petrillo, Project Manager at julia.depetrillo@orchid-cancer.org.uk. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference to those affected by or at risk of prostate cancer in your area! You will be a part of a dynamic team and community, learn new skills and take on a challenge!
