Trans Women Get Prostate Cancer Too

Trans Women Get Prostate Cancer Too is an important new project for Orchid which will help us develop our training programmes, consultancy services and our support services.

We’re delighted to have received funding and we’d like to involve as many trans women as possible in our initiative. Please get in touch and tell your friends. We’d love to hear your perspective and better understand how we can help.

We were delighted to have received a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund Awards for All to deliver this one year project.

Our work has included reaching out to trans women in the community so they gain a better understanding of their prostate cancer risk. We have covered the symptoms they might encounter and encourage an early diagnosis if they have concerns and promoted the support that we are able to offer.

An important part of our work has involved engaging participants in a face to face focus group. This has helped us to better understand their needs and helped us to develop awareness activities. We have also worked in partnership with a specialist LGBTIQ+ cancer charity.

If you would like to be involved, we would love to hear from you. Please email ali.orhan@orchid-cancer.org.uk

Likewise, we would love to hear from trans allied organisations who would like to help.
