Fundraising to fight male cancer

School-friends since the age of 11, Toms (Reynolds and Cambidge) are planning to help the fight against male cancer in their biggest challenge to date!

On the 19th July the childhood friends will be travelling almost 10,000 miles, from England to Mongolia in a 1989, 970cc, Bedford Rascal – in just four weeks!

The two Toms sat down one evening and began talking about the ‘fun runs, the badges and ribbons that are worn with honour and ovation’ and decided they wanted to do something for the men. They looked to see if there was anything, so monumentally challenging, that if attempted in aid of Orchid, it would help to raise the profile of the fight against male cancer and raise much needed and vital awareness. Which is when they decided to embark on this epic journey to Mongolia.

The Toms came to Orchid as they wanted ‘a symbol to represent the fight against male cancer, a colour to wear and a charity dedicated to saving the lives of men affected by male specific cancer’. Orchid is a small, dynamic charity dedicated to supporting and improving the lives of men affected by male cancer and their families. We offer a wide range of vital support services, organise educational campaigns, raise awareness and fund a pioneering world-class research programme. We are making a real difference to men and their families, yet there is still so much more to be done and every year more people turn to us for support.

Over 43,000 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate, testicular and penile cancer in the coming year and sadly these numbers continue to increase.

Behind each statistic is a man; a father, son, brother, grandfather or friend, and behind each man there are family and friends who are affected by these uniquely male cancers.

By fundraising for Orchid, this challenge will have a direct impact in helping us to continue our work in tackling male cancer. Keep up to date with this incredible challenge via their Facebook page, follow them on Twitter and please support their amazing challenge by visiting their JustGiving page.

We here at Orchid HQ would like to thank the Toms for taking on this challenge and wish them the best of luck.
