Orchid launches new penile cancer learning module for healthcare professionals
Orchid’s specialist nurses, working alongside consultant urologists Mr Arie Parnham and Mr Kenneth Patterson, have developed a new healthcare professional learning module on penile cancer for MIMS Learning.
MIMS Learning is a trusted clinical education platform that supports primary care practice and helps GPs and nurses meet their continuing professional development (CPD) requirements. It forms part of the wider MIMS Healthcare Network, which also includes MIMS, GPonline and GP Business.
The new module has been created as part of the Patient, Presentation, Pathway for Cancer campaign, which aims to support earlier cancer diagnosis and improved patient outcomes.
Designed for primary care professionals, the module highlights the importance of urgent referral to urology when penile cancer is suspected. It also explores the long-term psychological, psychosexual and physical impacts of diagnosis and treatment, offering guidance on how healthcare professionals can best support men affected by this rare but serious cancer.
By improving awareness, confidence and knowledge among frontline clinicians, Orchid hopes this module will contribute to earlier diagnosis, better care pathways and improved quality of life for men living with penile cancer.
